The Sivananda Yoga Teachers' Training Course (TTC) is a profound personal experience designed to build a firm foundation of inner discipline and provide the proficiency to teach yoga to others. This course, which was the first yoga teachers' training course in the West, is taught all over the world at different times of the year (see links at bottom of page). More than 40,000 people have now taken the TTC.

In August, you can join Shyam and Mohini of the Yoga Warehouse and other senior staff of the Sivananda organization at the Yoga Ranch in the beautiful Catskill mountains, just 100 miles outside New York City, for this inspiring 4-week experience. Mastery of any yoga practice is not necessary, only your sincere desire for knowledge and your commitment to personal growth. The course fulfills the requirements for Yoga Alliance RYT 200-hour certification.

Shyam and Mohini are the co-directors of the Yoga Warehouse, an award-winning Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in Fort Lauderdale, which they founded in 1998. They regularly teach special courses at Sivananda ashrams and have helped to train and certify hundreds of yoga teachers in classical hatha yoga as instructors in the Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training Courses and Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Courses.

Satsang means ‘“association with the wise.” Meditating together in a group creates a strong spiritual atmosphere which allows a deeper experience of meditation. In satsang, people of different levels practice together – from newcomers to experienced Yoga teachers.

Satsang is the heart of the Yoga practice. It consists of 30 minutes of silent meditation, 30 minutes of meditative chanting of mantras and kirtan and an easy-to-follow reading and/or talk on yoga philosophy or psychology. The steady, joyful practice of satsang tangibly builds the energy at the yoga center.

Our chant book reflects the inclusiveness of the Sivananda lineage, with a section of chants for each of the main deities, as well as chants in English and Hebrew. Many of the Sanskrit chants are followed by translations. There is a mysterious power in every word. Our Daily Chants (Jaya Ganesha) and a few bhajans are usually accompanied by harmonium and simple percussion. It is not your voice, but the inner feeling that matters.

We recite Swami Sivananda's Universal Prayer and conclude satsang with arati, an offering and receiving of Divine Light. We also share prasad, a sweet offering.

Beginners and members of all traditions welcome. This is a free event although donations are gratefully accepted. Please arrive at least five minutes early.

"As Satsang is the only safe boat to take you to the other shore of Bliss or Moksha [liberation], you should all try as best as is in your power, never to miss it." - Swami Sivananda

You can still give!

After Hurricane Matthew caused widespread destruction and suffering in Haiti in early October 2016, the Yoga Warehouse teachers and students began a charitable campaign to help. The result was that we collected a substantial amount of food that was delivered to Haiti through the Food for the Poor organization, and almost $1500.00 in monetary donations for two worthy Haitian charities on which we chose to focus our efforts.

Although the formal campaign has concluded, it is still possible to make direct donations to those two charities. If you would like information on how to give, go to:

The Lambi Fund of Haiti
The Three Little Flowers Center

The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers make up the largest yoga organization of its kind in the world, with more than 40 years of experience in teaching this course, which was the first yoga teachers training course in the West. The four-week residential course, founded by Swami Vishnudevananda, offers a profound personal experience and the opportunity to increase strength and flexibility, develop greater spiritual awareness, improve your power of concentration, and enhance your self-esteem and self-discipline. Mastery of any yoga practice is not necessary, only your sincere desire for knowledge and your commitment to personal growth.
