"Empower Your Life"
Take the reins of your life in your hands!
Sunday, March 18, 7-9pm

Prem has written a new inspirational and a practical book, Empower Your Life, that will infuse new life into your spiritual practice.

Inspired as always by the wonderful teachings of Swami Sivananda, Prem will share in the satsang some of the most inspirational messages from his book. There will be a book signing too!

Here is an excerpt from the book, from the chapter on Ideals:
"What we think, we become. Our growth depends largely on having an ideal and our ability to give form to it or manifest it in daily life. To work for an ideal is to put in the effort of our whole being. To live with an ideal in our heart is to be forever young. The greatest impelling force in life is to have an ideal. It is our ideals that shape our thoughts, words and actions. By choosing an ideal we set the bar high, a standard of certain realization and achievement. The greater our ideal, the greater the transformational power it exerts upon us."

The evening will begin with meditation, chanting and music played by Prem followed by the talk.

By donation, please arrive early.

Daily activity schedule, and/or possible changes, will be announced at morning Satsang.

Every Sunday evening, 7-8:30pm

Satsang means ‘“association with the wise.” Meditating together in a group creates a strong spiritual atmosphere which allows a deeper experience of meditation. In satsang, people of different levels practice together – from newcomers to experienced Yoga teachers.

Satsang is the heart of the Yoga practice. It consists of 30 minutes of silent meditation, 30 minutes of meditative chanting of mantras and kirtan and an easy-to-follow reading and/or talk on yoga philosophy or psychology. The steady, joyful practice of satsang tangibly builds the energy at the yoga center.

Our chant book reflects the inclusiveness of the Sivananda lineage, with a section of chants for each of the main deities, as well as chants in English and Hebrew. Many of the Sanskrit chants are followed by translations. There is a mysterious power in every word. Our Daily Chants (Jaya Ganesha) and a few bhajans are usually accompanied by harmonium and simple percussion. It is not your voice, but the inner feeling that matters.

We recite Swami Sivananda's Universal Prayer and conclude satsang with arati, an offering and receiving of Divine Light. We also share prasad, a sweet offering.

Beginners and members of all traditions welcome. This is a free event although donations are gratefully accepted. Please arrive at least five minutes early.

"As Satsang is the only safe boat to take you to the other shore of Bliss or Moksha [liberation], you should all try as best as is in your power, never to miss it." - Swami Sivananda
